The York S1-CAP4405050DR Round Dual Run Capacitor is an oil-filled unit with two independent sections rated at 50 microfarads for the compressor and 5 microfarads for the condenser fan motor, both at 440 VAC across a 50/60 Hz supply. Each section stores and releases charge that sustains motor current through the full run cycle without pulling excess amperage from the supply line. Split-system condensers, heat pump outdoor units, and packaged rooftop units in HVAC systems draw on both sections simultaneously, and a degraded reading on either side pushes motor current beyond its rated threshold, accelerating heat buildup at the stator over continued operation.
