Xylem-Bell & Gossett 116304 Diaphragm Expansion Tank Assembly D120 is a 6″ diaphragm type expansion tank for use in hydronic heating and cooling systems. It works by expanding as water heats up and absorbs the pressure that would otherwise be exerted on other components of HVAC systems. The internal diaphragm divides air and water compartments to ensure that the pressure remains constant and to prevent the penetration of water into air chamber. It is usually used with boilers, chillers and other closed loop systems and increases efficiency by maintaining stability and safeguarding valves, pump and pipes.
