Description
The Trane VAL2824 is a 15-ton thermal expansion valve (TXV), an essential part of commercial systems that use R22 refrigerant. More commonly referred to as a “metering device”, the TXV is essential in controlling the circulation of the refrigerant in the evaporator coil. The TXV regulates the quantity of refrigerant allowed to enter the coil thus maintaining the better cooling ability and at the same time avoiding the coil from freezing. When refrigerant moves through the evaporator coil it accidentally or inherently draws heat from the air making it a gaseous state. The TXV measures the temperature of the fluid in the coil. If the temperature falls too low suggesting a possibility of freezing the TXV is able to close its internal valve.
