The Trane DHY1459 is a high quality suction line filter drier which is intended for use in residential and light commercial applications with cooling capacities up to 5.1 tons. It is usually an important component in shielding the refrigeration system against moisture, acid and other irritants that may circulate within the refrigerant. The filter drier has a desiccant core that can help to remove moisture which can form ice that will hamper airflow and damage the compressor. Also, it has a fine mesh screen that removes solid particles from the air, thus protecting the inner parts of the system.
