The Trane COM8146 Compressor is a robust, powerful product meant for moderate cooling load applications in commercial or industrial applications and R-22 refrigerant. A compact, independent structure (hermetic) made of cast iron. This Trane compressor is not like the piston compressors commonly used, but it operates through a scroll system. In the sealed housing, two engaged scrolls work in the manner of a pump and the speed of compression of the refrigerant gas is moderate. This design translates to a 2.3-ton capacity (roughly 27,600 BTUH), which is suitable for effectively catering to the cooling needs of medium-sized spaces.
