The Sporlan Controls 151391 is a thermal expansion valve designed for use in 5-ton HVAC systems with R410A refrigerant. It is essential for controlling the refrigerant flow in the system to guarantee effective and peak performance. By detecting the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the evaporator coil, the TXV accurately controls the amount of refrigerant entering the coil. More refrigerant can flow and absorb heat when the TXV opens, which happens when the temperature rises above a predetermined value. On the other hand, the TXV closes and limits the flow of refrigerant to keep the coil from frosting over if the temperature drops below the predetermined point. This exact management method keeps the cooling capacity constant and avoids frosting of the evaporator coil, which can drastically lower system efficiency.
