Description
The Rheem-Ruud SP21223 Flame Rod Triton HD/SD Kit senses high-temperature flame presence in gas water heaters and boilers. Mounted through the burner mounting plate into the active combustion zone of heating equipment in HVAC systems, the sensing rod extends directly into the burner flame. Applying a low AC voltage through the flame creates a rectified microamp DC signal back to the main ignition board to confirm active combustion. Continuous flame rectification keeps the main gas valve open, prevents false flameouts, and supports safe, automatic burner control.
