The Rheem-Ruud 47-25334-01 Limit switches are safety devices applied to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment to prevent overheating. This little but essential part measures temperature and in the event that a certain limit of the temperature is achieved, it turns off the power supply to the cell. The limit switch is as follows: It has a basic principle. It has a sensor which detects changes in temperatures. At the temperature of 145°F the switch is opened to interrupt the electrical supply to the system. In this case, the switch resets at 125°F thereby enabling the device to continue running as programmed. This limit switch is commonly employed in air conditioners, furnaces and heat pumps.
