Description
The Rheem-Ruud 46-100836-01 is an efficient but small-sized transformer designed especially for use in HVAC applications. Its main function is to lower the high voltage levels 208/230 VAC to the low voltage levels 24 VAC needed to run different parts of the HVAC system. This step is necessary to guarantee the performance of the appliance without any associated hazards. The principle of working of the transformers is based on the electromagnetic induction. The primary coil, when connected to the high tension supply, creates a magnetic field around it. This magnetic field then induces a current in the secondary coil thereby giving the desired lower output voltage. This transformer forms the basic building block of many Rheem and Ruud HVAC systems such as air-conditioning units, furnaces and heat pumps.
