The Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100208454 Pressure Relief Valve protects boilers and water heaters from excessive internal hydronic pressure. Installed directly into the heat exchanger assembly in HVAC systems and water heating equipment, the mechanical valve remain closed during normal operation. When system pressure exceeds the 50 PSI threshold an internal spring yields to open the valve seat, discharging excess water or steam safely away from the unit. Releasing pressure accumulation controls overall circuit strain, maintains operational stability and supports safe operating conditions within closed hydronic loops.
