The International Comfort Products 1010494 a secondary heat exchanger is an accessory in gas furnaces that is used to transfer heat from the combustion chamber to the atmosphere moving round the house. It is generally positioned behind the first heat exchanger known as furnace heat exchanger. During combustion the heat is also generated in the combustion chamber to the atmosphere when the furnace is on. This heat is then passed to the primary heat exchanger where warmer air is produced by way of passing air over the heated metal. The second heat exchanger is a common feature of the gas furnaces especially those with high efficiency ratings.
