The Copeland Comfort Control (Alco) 047280 1-Ton Thermostatic Expansion Valve ACP-1 1/4″ X 3/8″ SAE S-T regulates refrigerant flow into the evaporator based on temperature and pressure conditions at the outlet line. It operates using a sensing bulb filled with a temperature-responsive charge that adjusts diaphragm movement inside the valve body, controlling the opening of the orifice in HVAC systems. It is operated in the liquid line to meter refrigerant into the evaporator coil according to load demand. Its calibrated design maintains correct refrigerant distribution, prevents excessive liquid return, and ensures balanced evaporation across the coil surface.
