Carrier 5H40120A Valve Plate Assembly that is part of the reciprocating compressor applied in Carrier HVAC systems. Several of them work like main parts as they pump the refrigerant from one place to another in the system. The valve plate assembly consists of thin, springy reeds that are flapped open and closed by pressure variations. In operation, the low-pressure refrigerant gas is induced into the compressor through the inlet valve on the plate. This piston compresses the gas the pressure builds up pushes the discharge valve on the plate and directs the high-pressure refrigerant out to the condenser.
