Description
The Carrier 340620-731 Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) is a refrigerant metering unit that controls the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator, maintaining proper superheat and system balance within HVAC systems. It operates through a sensing bulb and internal diaphragm that respond to temperature and pressure changes, adjusting the valve opening to match cooling demand. This allows accurate refrigerant flow based on load conditions. Located along the liquid line near the evaporator coil in air conditioning units, it is connected to the refrigerant piping during setup, allowing steady cooling performance and controlled refrigerant distribution throughout the system.
