The Carrier 0864N-0071A Crankcase Heater is a resistance heating element used in compressor protection circuits. It operates at a 90-watt power rating and 480-volt electrical input, generating controlled heat around the compressor crankcase to prevent refrigerant migration and oil dilution during off cycles. Installed directly on or around the compressor shell in refrigeration and air conditioning units, it maintains proper oil viscosity and safeguards startup conditions.
