The A.O. Smith 9003721005 Magnesium Anode Kit 0.84 DIA 16″ L is a sacrificial anode rod assembly used in residential water heating systems to reduce internal tank corrosion in HVAC systems. It is designed to attract corrosive elements in the water, allowing the magnesium rod to deteriorate instead of the tank lining and extending overall water heater. The kit is installed inside a compatible water heater tank during routine maintenance or replacement procedures where it threads into the tanks anode port and remains submerged during operation.
