The Trane CNT3786 SPST Automatic Reset Normally Closed Limit Switch, 225 OPN is a safety device for HVAC equipment such as air handlers, furnaces, and chillers. It’s a switch that cuts off the system from power if a certain condition is a high temperature. Electricity can pass across the circuit because the limit switch is normally closed as long as the limit switch is not engaged. The switch triggers as soon as the temp reaches 225°F triggering it to open the circuit and so cut off the flow of current. At 120 volts AC, it will take up to 15 amps, and at 240 volts AC, 10 amps.
