Trane VAL9478 Thermal Expansion Valve is designed for use with Trane HVAC systems, with R410A refrigerant and rated for up to 4-ton cooling. This valve plays an essential role in regulating the refrigerant flow through the unit. It is a pressure-controlled dam that adapts refrigerant flow to the needs of the system and works similarly. This way, the flow does not over-flood the evaporator coil thus making the system inefficient and even damaging the system. Usually, the Trane VAL9478 is constructed from solid brass for long-lasting and reliable use. Some dimensions include a Length of about 5.2”, and an Inlet/outlet diameter of 3/8”.
