Description
The Trane VAL4901 is one of the thermal expansion valves of the third generation known as 3a Thermal Expansion Valve meant for use in circuits containing R-22 refrigerant. This two-valve regulates the amount of refrigerant that enters the evaporator coil which is of high importance if the system is to operate optimally. The TXV employs a temperature sensor bulb that has been laden with an expandable or contractible material. When the evaporator coil temperature decreases the TXV 1 opens to let more refrigerant into the system to draw heat from the incoming air. the TXV reduces refrigerant flow in the same coil when the temperature rises so as not to form ice.
