The Amana-Goodman HASFK-4 High Altitude Conversion Kit is a performance enhancing kit for air conditioners and heat pumps operating at high altitudes. High altitude has a lower air density, and a lower atmospheric pressure can influence drastically the performance of HVAC systems. Components of this kit may include modified orifice tubes, metering parts, and possibly adjusted compressor valves. But these components are each specially calibrated to compensate for the thinner air at higher elevations. The kit uses refrigerant flow and pressure adjustments to keep the system with the optimal cooling or heating capacity.
