Description
The Copeland 985-0183-01 Low Pressure Switch is essential safety device used in HVAC systems. It acts as a safeguard against refrigerant pressure falling below a safe minimum level. The switch is simply an ON/OFF device. When pressure falls in system below its preset range of 3 PSI, it opens the circuit and interrupts power to compressor thus preventing it from trying to pump non-existent refrigerant which would eventually lead to overheating and possible damage. Low pressure switches are integral components of air conditioning systems, refrigerators and other cooling units with compressors.
