Transformers, motors, and other delicate equipment can sustain damage from these currents, which can originate from a variety of sources. By creating a low-resistance path to the ground for these stray currents, the grounding ring effectively directs them away from the equipment and minimizes the risk of damage. The ring is made up of two parts that come together to form a whole loop around the equipment’s rotating shaft. The halves have grounding points for connecting to the grounding wire of the system and are made of a conductive material, usually stainless steel.
